Guard David Wingate of the San Antonio Spurs, accused in two alleged rapes, won’t be part of the team when the NBA exhibition season opens next month, owner Red McCombs said.
Wingate, 26, was indicted Thursday in Howard County in Maryland in the alleged rape Sunday of a 17-year-old girl. He was charged with second-degree rape, assault and battery and third-degree sexual offense.
On Wednesday, a 21-year old San Antonio woman filed a civil suit against Wingate claiming he raped her in June. The suit alleges two of Wingate’s friends also assaulted the woman at his house.
