Servite 23, Alemany 15--Friar running back Mike Wallock bulled his way for 149 yards and two touchdowns in 22 carries to lead Servite to a 23-15 victory over Alemany at Cerritos College Friday.
The senior running back scored on runs from two yards and one yard out. With the game tied 7-7, Servite (2-1) scored nine points in a three-minute span in the third quarter. A 54-yard punt return by Mike Hill set up Wallock’s one-yard go-ahead touchdown, and an interception by Robert Choi set up a field goal by Josh Nelson.
Servite took a 23-7 lead on running back Chandler Robbins’ 16-yard run with two minutes gone in the fourth quarter to cap a seven-play, 75-yard drive.
Alemany (1-1) had taken a 7-0 lead on a 38-yard interception return by Wrangell Melendres with 10:44 left in the first quarter, but didn’t score again until Tom Engler caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Adam Romandi with 3:34 left in the game.
