FDIC Sues Arthur Laffer: The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. charged economist Arthur B. Laffer with failing to return $45,833.38 in director’s fees paid to him by the now-defunct Commonwealth Bank. According to the complaint, Laffer was paid $75,000 for three years service, but resigned before the three years were up. Laffer, an economic adviser to former President Ronald Reagan, could not be reached for comment.
