San Clemente Wins Third Game in a Row

SAN CLEMENTE — Defensive end Barry Bland picked up a fumble and ran seven yards for a touchdown on the third play of the game and San Clemente High School won its third consecutive game, 30-12, over Bellflower Friday night at San Clemente.
Bellflower had five turnovers, three interceptions and two fumbles.
San Clemente’s first touchdown came with 6:08 left in the second quarter when junior halfback Morgan Bannister’s seven-yard touchdown run capped a 10-play, 41-yard drive. Bannister, who also plays at defensive back, intercepted the ball on the last play of the first half.
Running back Shane Shanafelt made it 20-6 with 2:09 left in the third quarter when he scored from the one-yard line. Early in the fourth quarter, he got his second touchdown of the night on a two-yard run.
Kicker Brent Eubanks completed the scoring for San Clemente (3-1) with a 35-yard field goal with 9:18 left.
