MISSION VIEJO : New Ballot to Fix Identification Error
- Share via
The county registrar of voters office will spend $9,000 to reprint the official ballot for the Saddleback Valley Unified School District trustee contest because of an error.
Registrar Donald F. Tanney said his employees failed to identify Roberta (Bobbee) Cline as an appointed, not elected, incumbent on the Nov. 6 sample ballot.
Cline, who was appointed to the school board last July, will be listed as “appointed incumbent” on absentee and final ballot forms, in compliance with state law, Tanney said. However, he said it’s too late to change sample ballot forms that list Cline as “governing board member of the Saddleback Valley Unified School Board.”
Cline said she informed workers at the registrar’s office that she had been appointed in July but was incorrectly informed that simply listing herself as a board member would be appropriate.
School board candidate Charles Wall called the registrar’s attention to the error last week, charging that Cline was misrepresenting herself.
