Amdahl Corp.: The Sunnyvale, Calif., supplier of high-performance mainframe computers, data storage subsystems and data communication products reported third-quarter net income of $46.4 million, up 41% compared to a year ago. But revenue dropped from $488.4 million to $534.3 million. The firm said its better gross margins reflected lower production costs. It cited a temporary slowdown in mainframe demand for its revenue decline.
