Allergan Inc.: The international maker of contact lenses and eye- and skin-care products posted third-quarter income of $25.4 million, 14% less than a year ago. Allergan Inc., formerly a unit of SmithKline Beckman Corp., went public July 27, 1989. Sales advanced 8% to a record $222.2 million. The Irvine firm said the results resulted from strong sales growth in its pharmaceutical, surgical and dermatology businesses, which came despite adverse sales in optical operations.
