Savage Awarded a Fifth Season of Eligibility
- Share via
Senior defensive end Rusty Savage, one of five Montclair Prep players who applied for a fifth year of eligibility, has been cleared to play for the rest of the season.
Savage received a temporary restraining order from Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard G. Kolostian on Friday after Savage charged that the Southern Section was unevenly applying bylaw 224, which grants players an extra year of eligibility based on hardship.
Teammates Greg Cole and John Goldbaum were granted an extra year of eligibility in August, but Savage, Leland Sparks and Cardell Henderson were turned down. Sparks, now at Mater Dei, has since been cleared to play.
