In a promotion that positions him to succeed the founder of Atlantic Records, Doug Morris has been named co-chairman and co-chief executive of the label, which is based in New York. The 52-year-old Morris, who was president and chief operating officer at Atlantic, will continue to work with Atlantic founder Ahmet M. Ertegun, who also serves as co-chairman and co-chief executive.
