A man involved in a minor traffic accident was struck and killed on the San Diego Freeway on Wednesday morning as he tried to run across traffic.
Lmanyeo Darnell Scott, 23, of Corona was hit by a car about 6 a.m. as he tried to cross the car pool lane on the freeway near the Costa Mesa Freeway interchange.
Scott had run across across northbound lanes, jumped the center divider, and then crossed southbound lanes to reach a call box to report his traffic accident. Police said Scott was told that a police car would pick him up at the call box, and that he should not try to cross the 10 lanes of highway again.
The driver of the car that hit Scott was injured slightly. No one was cited.
