A woman killed when her car struck a utility pole in Van Nuys has been identified as Martha Nunez, 53, of North Hollywood, Los Angeles police reported Tuesday.
Nunez may have been having car problems when her auto ran a red light Monday on Sepulveda Boulevard at Victory Boulevard and sideswiped another car before crashing, Officer Leona Thomas said.
“Witnesses said she was going about 55 or 60 miles per hour through the intersection . . . waving her hands and honking her horn like she was trying to warn people,” Thomas said. “We don’t know for sure what happened, yet, but it’s possible that her accelerator was stuck.”
