THE SIDELINES : Australian Wins 2nd Cup Race

MERIBEL, France — Petra Kronberger of Austria won her second World Cup downhill of the season today, taking the race on what will be the 1992 Olympic course.
Kronberger covered the 9,042-foot course in 1 minute, 57.59 seconds.
Carole Merle of France was second in 1:58.37, and Veronika Wallinger of Austria was third in 1:59.02.
Kronberger added to her overwhelming lead in overall standings. She has 251 points for the season, 170 points ahead of Katrin Gutensohn of Germany, who finished fourth in the downhill race.
It was Kronberger’s seventh victory this season.
