Defense Spending in Reagan Years
In response to “Legacy of Failure in Defense” (Column One, Jan. 9), may I suggest that the wreckage of the Reagan Administration lies not only in the defense industry, which is in shambles, but also in the deterioration of our moral, social and economic structure.
The gluttonous ‘80s decade diverted $2 trillion into a defense program beset by incompetence, greed and waste.
Sadly, these excesses have come full cycle and our forces in the desert could be the innocent victims.
