Pilots Reject American’s Contract Offer: American Airlines’ pilots union rejected a contract proposal as 15 months of negotiations between the two sides continued to produce no results. A spokesman for the Allied Pilots Assn. said the union’s board unanimously rejected the company’s latest proposal. “The company’s offer, described as ‘the final offer,’ was the same as the Nov. 15 proposal with some verbal enhancements,” pilots spokesman Tom Hunt said. Talks between American, a unit of AMR Corp., and the pilots have been continuing virtually around the clock since Jan. 7 under federal mediation.
