RETAIL/ LEISURE : Theaters Offering Western, Medieval Themes to Debut

Orange County will soon be the home of two new themed dinner theaters.
At Wild Bill’s Western Dinner Extravaganza, guests will chow down on a four-course American banquet while being treated to a Wild West show with singers, dancers and a variety of characters. The new show is scheduled to open in March on Beach Boulevard near Knott’s Berry Farm.
Meanwhile, King Henry will be holding court near Disneyland with a medieval-type dinner that will include knights, wizards, “serving wenches,” court jesters and royal entertainment. King Henry’s Feast is scheduled to open in Anaheim in late 1991.
The King Henry restaurant sounds similar in theme to Medieval Times, which has operated successfully in Buena Park for several years, a couple of doors from where Wild Bill’s will make its debut.
Each of the dinner houses is owned by L.A. Entertains, which believes that there is a need for more family-oriented, nighttime entertainment for tourists. The Anaheim company is a subsidiary of Rank plc, a London-based entertainment company.
