P.M. BRIEFING : Toyota to Set Up Beijing Office

TOKYO — Toyota Motor Corp. today announced the creation of a second world headquarters and the setting up of its first office in Beijing.
In its annual reorganization plan, Toyota said its Tokyo office will be upgraded to the status of a world headquarters beginning Feb. 1 to enable it to respond quickly to trends and changes in the business environment.
The existing headquarters is at Toyota City in central Japan.
The company will also set up its first office in Beijing in February to help provide technical aid to a Chinese maker of car bodies, a spokesman for Japan’s largest car maker said.
