Murder charges have been filed in Pasadena Superior Court against two men suspected of the Jan. 22 gang-related shooting of a motorist on the Foothill Freeway. Lonnie Laselle Burnett, 23, of Duarte and Ronald Earl Hopkins Jr., 24, of Pasadena are scheduled to be arraigned Friday on charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder. Burnett also is charged with possession of cocaine for sale.
Anthony Dwayne Shaw, 25, of Altadena was killed while driving near the San Gabriel Boulevard freeway exit. A passenger in his car was injured.
Police say Shaw’s death and that of 17-year-old Chanette Daniels a week later arose from a gang feud that has seen increased violence for the past two weeks in northwest Pasadena.
