HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Poly Makes Playoffs With 50-44 Victory

Poly High needed overtime but defeated visiting Sherman Oaks CES, 50-44, Tuesday to give the Parrots second place in the East Valley League and a City Section 3-A Division playoff berth.
Nick Aldaba scored four of the Parrots’ nine points in overtime, all on free throws.
The Knights missed four consecutive field-goal attempts underneath in the opening seconds of overtime and later committed two turnovers.
Poly’s Marcos Reyes hit a three-point basket after Aldaba made a pair of technical-foul shots and Steve McCann added a layup with two seconds left for Poly (8-11, 7-5 in league play). The Knights outrebounded Poly, 43-22, but were unable to convert a basket on 13 of their 16 offensive rebounds.
