Match Postponed for Funeral

A girls’ high school soccer playoff match between Rio Mesa and Chaminade was postponed a day because of a funeral for a Rio Mesa senior.

The Southern Section 3-A Division wild-card match, originally scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Rio Mesa, will be played today at 3 p.m. at Rio Mesa.

“A funeral that many of the players felt they had to attend was happening at the same time the game was scheduled,” said Brian FitzGerald, Rio Mesa athletic director.
