Glad to Hear That Report Backs Mobil
I am delighted to read that the Los Angeles city transportation commissioners have approved the environmental impact report for Mobil Oil’s project to replace its aging crude oil pipeline through the San Fernando Valley. This project is sorely needed to improve public safety and the environment.
Both this study by an outside city consultant and the city staff report prove that the chances of an accidental oil spill are greatly reduced by state-of-the-art protective coatings on the new pipe and the most modern 24-hour-day computerized monitoring and computerized internal inspections on a regular basis.
Mobil is to be commended for its program to inform homeowner groups, business organizations and elected officials about the project and its safety and environmental benefits.
The commission should act quickly now to approve construction permits so Mobil can begin work as soon as possible.
