Algerian Telethon Raises Funds for Iraq

ALGIERS, Algeria — Nearly $5 million toward the reconstruction of war-battered Baghdad was raised during a fund-raising telethon on Algerian television.
Organizers said more than $4.64 million had been donated by viewers.
Algerian public opinion was overwhelmingly in favor of Iraq during the Gulf War.
