The Los Angeles Unified School District board voted Monday to petition state officials to conduct a health investigation regarding public schools located near Rockwell International’s controversial Santa Susana Field Laboratory.
The Rockwell facility, west of Chatsworth, has become a center of attention because of reports of toxic pollution at the site and in surrounding areas. State and federal regulators are investigating.
Valley school board member Julie Korenstein requested Monday that nearby schools be included in the state investigation. The board passed her motion on a 4-0 vote.
