The Seattle Mariners placed Ken Griffey Sr. on the 15-day disabled list.
Griffey, 40, has a strained lower back from a traffic accident early last month when his car was rear-ended as he was stopped for an oncoming emergency vehicle.
He appeared in only four spring training games, hitting .300 with two RBIs.
