Northridge Athletic Program Adds Indoor Track and Field
- Share via
Indoor track and field will become an official team sport at Cal State Northridge on Sept. 1.
A school must compete in a minimum of four indoor meets in a season to fulfill NCAA Division I requirements. The Matadors will compete in meets around the country, including one and possibly two at Northern Arizona, in the Walkup Skydome.
The addition of the two (men’s and women’s) sports will raise the number of team sports at Northridge to 18, 10 for men and eight for women.
The men’s sports will be baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, indoor and outdoor track and field, soccer, swimming and volleyball. The women’s sports will be basketball, cross-country, indoor and outdoor track and field, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
All teams will compete at the Division I level, except for football, which will remain in Division II.
