Kristin Heizer pitched a 14-inning shutout as Orange Coast defeated Cypress, 1-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Friday in Costa Mesa.
OCC’s Sonia Ramirez started the 14th with a single off losing pitcher Karrie Swartz, who came in to start the inning. Marcie Clark then bunted for a single.
Cypress got a boost when OCC’s Shannon Ebert grounded into a double play. But Tina Fuata hit a grounder to third and the throw was dropped at first, allowing Ramirez to score.

Laura Corson didn’t allow a run in the first 13 innings for Cypress (24-9, 6-1).
