PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : Washington, Ward Combine for Woodbridge

Stacy Washington pitched five shutout innings and Allison Ward two as Woodbridge defeated Saddleback, 2-0, to take first place in the Sea View League softball standings.
Washington (7-1) allowed two hits and Ward struck out three and allowed no hits for the Warriors (14-6, 4-0 in league).
Deanna Black singled to drive in Ward, giving Woodbridge a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Black’s was one of three hits Woodbridge got off Saddleback pitcher Desi Abrego. Saddleback is 9-7, 3-1.
In another Sea View League game:
University 32, Corona del Mar 1 (five innings)--Carrie Kirk had a grand slam, a two-run home run and a triple and Heather Campbell had a three-run home run and a double and seven runs batted in for host University. Shareen Patton (8-2) pitched a three-hitter, striking out nine and walking one for University.
In the South Coast League:
El Toro 2, San Clemente 0--Misty Lauby (11-6) allowed three hits and struck out six in her eighth shutout of the season for host El Toro (12-11, 3-1).
Irvine 16, Capistrano Valley 0--Shelley Byrd had three hits and four RBIs and Jennifer Brundage and Carly Griton each had two hits and three RBIs for visiting Irvine (18-2, 4-0).
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 5, Edison 2--Laura Minard (4-3) pitched a five-hitter, struck out four and did not walk a batter or allow an earned run for host Huntington Beach (10-9, 6-1).
Fountain Valley 5, Ocean View 2--Ocean View scored unearned runs in the fifth and sixth to tie the score, 2-2, but visiting Fountain Valley scored three in the seventh. Rae Rice (10-2) allowed five hits and struck out 11 for Fountain Valley (14-3, 5-2).
