CSUN Posts Softball Upset of No. 3-Ranked Arizona, 1-0

Cal State Northridge rebounded from a 5-0 loss in the first game by upsetting third-ranked Arizona, 1-0, in 10 innings in the nightcap of a nonconference college softball doubleheader at Arizona on Friday.
Debbie Barnard’s ground out in the top of the 10th inning scored Kelly Martin from third base. With the international tiebreaker rule in effect, Martin started the inning at second base, pinch-running for Jeanne Mixon.
Heather Lindstrom (13-6), a junior right-hander, scattered seven hits in going the distance to record her second consecutive shutout.
In the first game, Arizona’s Debbie Day (23-5) threw a one-hitter against the Matadors (28-25). The Wildcats (45-10) backed her by pounding Cami Allen (9-13) for eight hits and five earned runs.
