SAN DIEGO — Although many of San Diego County’s arts organizations have long been performing for and teaching local schoolchildren through various in-school programs and staged events, the city will hold its first-ever Arts in Education Expo, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the San Diego Convention Center.
Presented by the Youth Education Alliance, YEA for the Arts, and the San Diego Theatre Foundation, the trade show, on the mezzanine level, will include 90 exhibitors and three stages, with performances throughout the day, said Diana Streifer of the Theatre Foundation.
An awards presentation will take place at 4 p.m. to recognize teachers, school principals and parents who have made outstanding contributions to arts education, Streifer said. Presenters will include representatives from Jazz Unlimited Dance Company, Malashock Dance & Company, Westwind Brass, San Diego Comic Opera and San Diego Junior Theatre.
Admission is $7.50. Students through 12th grade will be admitted free.
