Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Warning Issued on Eating Shark Meat

Florida issued a health advisory saying that shark meat contains high amounts of poisonous methyl mercury. Samples from stores in Florida averaged 1.48 parts per million, well above the 1-p.p.m. level that the federal government considers unacceptable. It was not clear whether the advisory applied to shark meat bought outside of Florida or whether it applied to all types of sharks.
