American Mountaineer Reaches Peak of Everest

KATMANDU, Nepal — An American mountain guide and his Sherpa escort have reached the top of Mt. Everest, the world’s highest peak, the Tourism Ministry said Monday.
Peter George Athans, 34, of Boulder, Colo., and Apa Sherpa, 35, reached the summit Wednesday, the ministry said.
