ANOTHER LOOK: Despite some grim overtones to Thursday’s Chapman College Forecast (D5), here’s some good news for home builders: Turns out new census figures show the county’s population grew faster than had been thought during the mid-1980s. So instead of a housing surplus, there’s been a shortfall since 1989 (above). . . . And since builders will probably put up only 8,200 dwelling units this year, there could be a big pent-up demand growing, the forecast says.
