A 30-year-old man died when his vehicle overturned near Fillmore, authorities said Wednesday.
Jaime Alvarez of Fillmore may have been drinking when his vehicle overturned Monday evening, California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Utter said.
But Alvarez’s body was not discovered until about noon Tuesday, Utter said. Ranch hands from Arundell Ranch found Alvarez under his Jeep on Old Pole Creek Road, a private road on the Arundell Ranch, Utter said.
Alvarez, who worked as a ranch hand at Gonzalez Ranch in Fillmore, was last seen drinking with friends at 9 p.m. Monday, Utter said.
His car, a 1970 Jeep, ran off the road and rolled over, Utter said. Old Pole Creek Road is a two-lane dirt and gravel road, Utter said.
“The top of the driver’s seat was pressed into his back,” said county Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate. The weight of the car did not allow Alvarez to breathe, and he suffocated, Wingate said.
