Marine General Picked to Succeed Schwarzkopf

WASHINGTON — President Bush will nominate Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Joseph P. Hoar to succeed Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf as commander-in-chief for the Central Command, the Pentagon said Wednesday. Schwarzkopf, the commander of allied military forces in Operation Desert Storm, is scheduled to retire this summer.
