Cyclist Chris Johnston of Santa Barbara was minding his own business Friday night in the men’s points race when he got sucked into a major crash. Eighteen riders went down across the Cal State Dominguez Hills velodrome track.
“I saw another rider go from top to the bottom, and three guys on the ground,” Johnson said.
He followed them, landing on the grass infield. He cracked his collarbone. That was nothing new.
Three weeks ago, Johnson suffered a broken collarbone in a crash at the Encino track. He had to withdraw from the national championships last week.
