The sentencing of Peter Sabatino Ognibene, a Newport Beach used-car wholesaler who faces up to 10 years in prison for a conviction of altering odometers on older cars, was continued Friday until Sept. 6.
During a hearing Friday, Superior Court Judge Everett W. Dickey said that before he could sentence the defendant, he needed more information on the case, including any proposed restitution that Ognibene may make.
Ognibene, 49, was convicted Feb. 21 on nine felony counts of grand theft for turning back the mileage in 29 cars he had sold to dealers in Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles counties between 1984 and 1987.
