Bus Drivers Union Files Complaint Against RTD
- Share via
A bus drivers union Monday filed suit seeking to reverse the Southern California Rapid Transit District’s transfer of 12 drivers. The United Transportation Union alleges in the Los Angeles Superior Court complaint that the reassignment over the weekend violated both the drivers’ contract and the state Public Utilities Code. RTD spokesman Anthony Greno declined comment.
According to the union, its contract requires consultation with the union before such changes are made, and state law prohibits the district from reducing service without making adequate provisions for employees whose jobs are eliminated.
According to the complaint, the 12 drivers ended up with less favorable assignments, longer commutes and, in some cases, lower wages.
