A 10-year-old San Dimas boy was fatally shot in the head Monday when a 15-year-old boy pulled the trigger on what he thought was an unloaded gun, authorities said.
Josh Smith died at 7:01 p.m. at San Dimas Community Hospital, said Sheriff’s Deputy George Ducoulombier. He said the two and a third boy, 11, were playing in the teen-ager’s home on Juanita Avenue in San Dimas with a .38-caliber revolver that belonged to the teen-ager’s father. The three boys were alone when the accident occurred about 6:20 p.m., Ducoulombier said.
No charges had been filed late Tuesday. Detective Judy Gibson said the district attorney’s office will decide whether to charge the teen-ager with involuntary manslaughter.
