Program Offers Free Legal Aid to Elderly Poor

The Los Angeles City Community Development Department and Bet Tzedek Legal Services are sponsoring a program to bring free legal assistance to poor people over 55.
The program specializes in problems relating to housing, Medicare, Medi-Cal, Social Security and other government benefits, wills, consumer fraud, foreclosure and nursing home problems. Bet Tzedek, or the House of Justice, is a nonprofit law center.
A paralegal will visit the Thomas Senior Center at 2475 W. Washington Blvd. next Thursday. Future visits are planned at other senior centers. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling the Thomas Center at (213) 734-9091.
