Steve Bryan, ranked 184th in the world, upset 11th-seeded Anders Jarryd, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, in the first round of the U.S. Hardcourts tournament at Indianapolis.
Ronald Agenor of Haiti, seeded 13th, was defeated by Brett Steven of New Zealand, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (13-11). No. 12 Patrick McEnroe and No. 16 Christian Bergstrom advanced.
