2 Match British Air Fare Cut: British Airways cut transatlantic fares for fall travel by 15%, and two top rivals, American and United, quickly matched the promotion. Delta was still studying the move, a spokeswoman said. Under the sale, tickets must be purchased by Sept. 11, for travel beginning between Oct. 15 and Dec. 13. Under certain circumstances, travelers could return as late as Jan. 4, though the airlines are not including days around the holidays that traditionally are heavy travel days.
