Bell Atlantic to Cut Work Force: Regional telephone company Bell Atlantic Corp. of Philadelphia said it would offer early retirement to 3,500 employees in a cost-cutting move. Bell Atlantic said employees will be entitled to a full package of increased benefits if they retire by Dec. 15. Others will receive some increased benefits if they retire after that date.
