Defending George Strait
Richard Cromelin’s review of the Aug. 11 George Strait concert stinks! (“Playing It Strait at the Greek Theatre,” Aug. 14.)
What I would like to know is why The Times sends a reviewer to a concert who is obviously not a country music fan.
As a member of the baby-boom generation, I find myself leaning more and more toward country music as I get older (age 36). Most rap music leaves me cold, and much of the popular music I hear is simply monotonous. Maybe it’s a sign of aging, but, frankly, it doesn’t bother me a bit. My CD collection is quickly becoming filled with more country music than anything else. Maybe I’ll soon have more George Strait CDs than I have Beatles CDs!
So, please, for the sake of us country music fans, next time George is in town, do us all a favor and stay home!
