World IN BRIEF : PHILIPPINES : Imelda Marcos Faces New Charges

The Philippine government filed new criminal charges against Imelda Marcos, accusing her of spiriting $1 million out of the country when she and her late husband fled to Hawaii in 1986. It was the fourth criminal case against the exiled former First Lady filed by the government since last month, when President Corazon Aquino lifted a ban on her return so that she could stand trial for alleged corruption. The latest charges allege that Mrs. Marcos and her three children smuggled out 22 crates of Philippine currency.
