?--QUARTERBACKS
What now? The fans will demand that John Friesz replace Billy Joe Tolliver, just like Mark Vlasic did last year. A fella by the name of Alex Spanos may insist on it.
F--RUNNING BACKS
Who says Marion Butts was getting bad advice? He had no part in in this disastrous exhibition season, and now he has a chance to save the day.
C--RECEIVERS
What’s wrong? Did they forget to issue these guys hands? Derrick Walker, Nate Lewis and Anthony “Butterfingers” Miller dropped the ball.
F--OFFENSIVE LINE
America’s Finest City for some reason attracts the worst offensive linemen. They should make these guys pay to get into the stadium.
F--DEFENSIVE LINE
Charger Girls are bigger threat to get the attention of the opposition’s quarterback than these lost souls. Bring back Lee Williams.
C--LINEBACKERS
It won’t be long before teammates tell Junior Seau to stop playing so hard; he’s making them look bad. Henry Rolling has a game to forget.
C--DEFENSIVE BACKS
Anthony Shelton and Stanley Richard makes safety kiddie corps experiment look promising. Chargers ought to be good, in say, five or six years.
D--SPECIAL TEAMS
Chargers make Steve Ortmayer look good, and how tough is that? Punter John Kidd should ask to be paid per punt; it looks like he’s going to be busy.
F--COACHING
John Friesz gives fans something to yell about. But early Las Vegas line has Chargers pegged as 51-point underdog in regular-season opener.
