1 Killed, 4 Hurt as Pickup Overturns

ORANGE — A passenger in a pickup truck was killed Saturday night when the vehicle struck a guardrail on Santiago Canyon Road and flipped. The driver and three other passengers suffered moderate to minor injuries.
Jose Nunoz, 19, of Orange was thrown from the back of the truck by the impact and died at the scene.
Marvin U. Aguilar, 21, of Orange was driving north on Santiago Canyon Road south of Irvine Lake about 11:45 p.m. when he tried to pass, according to the California Highway Patrol. He swerved back to the right when he saw an oncoming car but lost control and hit the guardrail. The truck flipped, ejecting Nunoz and Raul Velasques, 19, of Orange, the CHP said.
Velasques was hospitalized with a broken leg, while Aguilar and two passengers were treated for minor injuries.
