Ohio State Coach John Cooper and tailback Robert Smith failed to resolve Smith’s future in a meeting.
Smith, who rushed for 1,126 yards as a freshman last season, left the team, citing a disregard for players’ safety and academics by the staff and calling for the removal of Cooper and assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Elliot Uzelac.
