An ice cream vendor was shot Sunday night during a robbery attempt by two people wearing Halloween monster masks, police said.
Javier Fajardo, 23, of La Puente was in good condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena recovering from a back wound.
The masked robbers approached Fajardo while he was selling ice cream from the back of his truck on Cypress Avenue near Villa Street, police Lt. Frank Wills said. Fajardo panicked when one robber displayed a revolver and was shot as he tried to run to the front of the truck, Wills said.
The robbers fled empty-handed and remained at large.
