Culver City : Mayor Won’t Run Again

Mayor Paul A. Jacobs has announced that he will not seek a fifth term on the City Council.
Jacobs, who was elected to the council in 1976, said he will step down to help usher in people with “new ideas and new vitality.”
Jacobs said he also needs to focus on a career change he is trying to make. The attorney specializes in automobile and homeowner insurance claims. He hopes to find a new job working on issues that interested him during his 16-year council career: land use, growth control and the environmental impact of building projects.
Three of five council seats will be up for grabs in the next general municipal election, to be held April 14, 1992. Councilmen James D. Boulgarides and Steven Gourley hold the two other seats that will be open.
Gourley said he plans to run for another term. Boulgarides said he is undecided about seeking reelection but probably will do so.
This is the fourth time Jacobs was elected to the honorary post of mayor by fellow council members.
