Singapore to Let Asian Journal in Once More: Singapore agreed to allow the Asian Wall Street Journal to resume circulation in limited numbers after Oct. 1. Barry Wain, publisher of the Hong Kong-based newspaper, hailed the decision as an indication that Singapore’s “attitude toward the foreign press is liberalizing.” The Journal will be allowed to sell 2,500 copies a day. It had a circulation of 5,000 when Singapore restricted sales to 400 copies in February, 1987, after the Journal ran stories that angered Singapore’s leaders. The Journal’s owner, Dow Jones & Co. of New York, halted sales last October.
