La Habra 34, Bolsa Grande 7--Senior Jason Johnson ran for 243 yards in 22 carries and scored two touchdowns for host La Habra.
Johnson, who rushed for more than 1,300 yards as a junior, scored on runs of 40 and 80 yards in the first quarter for the Highlanders (1-1).
La Habra quarterback Grant Mitchell also accounted for two touchdowns with an 18-yard second-quarter run and a 33-yard scoring pass to Quanza Hawkins to put the Highlanders up, 31-0, with 2:59 left in the third quarter.
The La Habra defense also played a big part in the victory, holding the Matadors (0-2) to just two first downs in the first half and shutting out Bolsa Grande until Tony Truong’s four-yard run made it 34-7 with 4:48 left.
